Caused by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), plantar warts can be painful and persistent, often appearing on the soles of the feet. They are more commonly seen in children, especially teenagers, than adults. Considered as a viral infection, there are two types of plantar warts:

• Solitary Wart: A singular wart that will increase in size and potentially multiply if left un-treated.
• Mosaic Wart: A collection of numerous smaller warts that grow within proximity. These have been considered more difficult to treat in comparison to Solitary Warts.

Treatment for Plantar Warts include cryotherapy, chemical and acid debridement or surgical removal.
